Perfect for introducing kids to chapter books!
I got this book hoping to start a love for chapter books for my 4 year old son. He loves dragons and has a wild imagination so this felt like a good fit. My plan was to read 1 chapter to him every night at bedtime. We ended up getting this through this book much quicker than anticipated because and he got more and more into the story he was beg me to read one more chapter! Some nights reading 4 or 5 chapters. What a wonderful story! The chapters go by quickly (there are 16 of them) and there were just enough illustrations to keep him engaged. Each day a family member would ask him what happened in his book the night before and I'd love to listen to him retell what he'd heard. We finished last night and he immediately asked if we can start reading it again today. There a few questions at the end of the book. I was really impressed with how his answers showed his grasp of the story, even the unwritten/implied parts. I highly recommend the book and I will be buying the rest of the series right away!

Helped my son love reading
My son wasn’t very excited about books or reading until he started this series! He is so excited to find out what happens that he now has a hard time putting the books down!

Exciting! Will capture kid's interest!
I had to write a review for this book/series. My 8 year old daughter has struggled with reading, she doesn't give her full effort bc nothing has sparked her interest enough to do so. She LOVES dragons and anything mythical so I specifically went looking for something like this. I bought the first 2 books in the series and just bought the next 3. I am so glad there are so many books in the series. She's read out loud, willingly and eagerly, every night since we started. We finished the first book in about 4 nights reading about 20 minutes a night. Immediately into the first chapter she said she liked the book. By the 3rd night she was saying she wanted to find out what happens next. And each night she wants to keep reading. We both love that there are pictures on every page, but also plenty of text. In fact when I first opened it I thought, the age range says 6 to 8 but she is not that advanced... but I was worried for nothing. She can handle it and has gotten more fluid w reading in just a couple nights. Love these books! Will be buying all of them! I can't say enough. We've seriously struggled with her reading for a couple years now, and within a week she's improved just bc she is interested.

Great for beginning chapter readers and dragon lovers
I have not read these books, but have scanned for content before letting my boys read them. This series was introduced to my boys by a friend and I am so thankful it was! My 8 year old is an avid reader and his reading level is well above these books, but he loves them still, so the story line is engaging and something he enjoys. My 7 year old is a slower reader and because of this was not finding books that were on his level, but also fun to read. But, this is that book!! He went from whining about reading time to reading this book all in one day!! I had to order the next five for the boys to share. They came in yesterday and they have both already finished the second one and are on to the third! If your child likes dragon stories (such as How to Train Your Dragon) but hasn’t found the right lower level for reading, try this. I definitely recommend!

A great action book!
Dragon Masters is a great dragon book seires for young readers. It's adventurous, action packed, and is geared to readers ages 4-8 years old. And it's well illustrated. So if you like dragons, I would recommend it for people who like dragons.

Branch Series books - very nice for early chapter book readers
I was looking for something to read to my 7 year old daughter and 3 year old son. I wanted something gender neutral (I wanted to avoid Princess books). This book was great. My kids asked to read more than 3 chapters a night. This is one of the Scholastic Branches series books. Branches series were written for early chapter book readers. There are two levels: first level is with color pictures and lower Lexile (According to Scholastic website, for ages 5-7, 80 page full color Branches series are: Boris by Andrew Joyner, Kung Pow Chicken by Cindi Marko, Missy's Super Duper Royal Deluxe by Susan Nees, Owl Diaries by Rebecca Elliott, Princess Pink and the Land of Fake-Believe by Noah Z Jones), second level is black and white with a bit higher Lexile (according to Scholastic Website, for ages 6-8, 96 page, black and white Branches series are: The amazing stardust friends by Heather Alexander Illustrated by Diane Le Feyer, Dragon Masters by Tracy West Illustrated by Graham Howells, Eerie Elementary by Jack Chabert Illustrated by Sam Ricks, Looniverse by David Lubar Illustrated by Matt Loveridge, Lotus Lane by Kyla May, Monkey Me by Timothy Roland, and the Notebook of Doom by Troy Cummings) . This Dragon Master series falls onto the second level. My daughter enjoyed Eerie Elementary series (took 45-60 min to read per book) and The Notebook of Doom (took 45-60 min to read per book). Branches series have easy to follow story lines and attractive illustrations (black and white for second level) and I highly recommend them..

Great start to a series
Plucking a boy from an onion farm for a great purpose of mastering dragon training seems like an interesting start to a book. The character and his dragon grow together in this series and made my students excited to read what happened next. For fans of fantasy, pick up the series.

Our kids LOVE the Dragon Master's book series
We needed a good "first chapter" series with lots of pictures as for bedtime routine as picture books just became rather expensive. So I searched the internet and came across the recommendation for Scholastic's Dragon Masters book series. They LOVE all the characters/dragons in the books and love guessing what each person can do and what powers the dragons have.Whenever possible we use the Kindle edition and broadcast it to our TV via our Amazon Firebox (via wireless projection) so that everyone can see the text and the pictures. Unfortunately not all the books are available for Amazon Kindle, so some books we had to buy as hard paper and we are running out of space in our bookshelves as we have sooo many books, so we prefer electronic copies. Electronic copies also allow us to share it onto their Amazon Fire tablets for kids.Again, LOVED by all of our kids and we have different ages and grasp of the world. Unfortuantely we have read ALL the books available and now have to wait until March 2021 until the next book comes out.
